Christmas Home Tour 2022 - Living Room

Next up on our Christmas Home Tour is the living room. It's magical in here during the Christmas season and I love how warm and cozy it is. This space has changed quite a bit in the last month. We've lived in this house for almost two years and we're still learning how best to use each room. I really loved our old couches (they now live in our basement) but this set up works so much better for our family. Jeremy and I almost never hung out here in the evenings and would watch tv in our bedroom. Now we snuggle up on the couch together just about every night.

I am so in love with our tree. We got it last year and it brought tears to my eyes when Jeremy first put it up. I know it's silly but it was so beautiful and I couldn't believe it was ours. I prefer a collected and sentimental tree just like my mama does. The handmade garland and ornaments, ornaments marking special milestones in our lives or things we love. It's all so special and I cry every year pulling them out of the box. I didn't have tinsel on the tree yet when I snapped these photos but it is my favorite finishing touch.

I know bows are having a big moment this year but they've been my favorite way to add some festive flare for years. I mostly decorate the same every year but one way I switch it up is with my ribbon color. This year I picked up this gorgeous satin blue ribbon and have it sprinkled throughout the house.

I've done the same Christmas decorations for my mantle since 2019. (You can see how it looked in our last house in this Christmas Tour post.) I've switched up some extra garlands here and there and this year I added this adorable bell garland

We've had these stockings since 2016. At that point it was just Jeremy and I but I've been able to add a new initial each time we add a member of the family. I really love the chunky knit stockings and have thought about switching to those but these are sentimental to me now. If I ever get new ones it would be for decoration purposes only and these will always come out Christmas Eve so Santa can fill them up. Me and my aunt Christie made the pom poms hanging from the stockings a couple of years ago. I need to make some to add to Everett's stocking but I'm thinking of making new pom pom garland for the tree and if I do I'll want the stocking pops to coordinate.

It's so fun to bring the boys' Christmas books out. I have a bunch in their room but this year I've put some out on the coffee table. It makes it easy for them to grab during the day and it's nice reading bedtime stories out by the tree. I just realized I've never shared our favorite Christmas books on here so I'm going to work on a post. In the meantime, you can see many of our favorites in my Amazon storefront.

I still have lots I want to do in here (faux roman shades, maybe some patterned curtains, new pillow covers...) but I truly love this space. I love how it keeps evolving and with each new layer I grow to love it more.

And that's all for the living room! It's not over the top (at least I don't think so 😅) but just the right amount to make the month of December feel a little extra magical. I took some photos of our dining and kitchen areas today so I'll share that with y'all in a day or so.
