New Beginnings.

Two years ago a shift happened. While I still loved (and do love) the Fall season, I was no longer anxiously awaiting it's arrival. I think this shift happened because I had graduated college and had seemingly graduated into "adult life".  There were no longer Friday night (high school) or Saturday afternoon (college) football games cheering on my team! Well, there were but it just wasn't the same anymore. No more "fall break" or getting out of school for the county fair. No more new clothes or school supply shopping. OK - I lied on that one. I still participate in 'Back-to-School' shopping. The deals are just too good to pass up and I love a good notebook!

I also have gained a deep love for the summer. I'm always loved the summer, but in the past few years I find myself almost mourning the end of it. It takes me a few weeks to embrace the time and leaves changing. I won't touch a Pumpkin Spice Latte until October. I guess this is just because every year it seems people are rushing things faster and faster. I have already seen my first Christmas commercial. Really, people? It's SEPTEMBER! Life moves fast enough as it is, let's not speed it along.

However, with all of that said. I do love the idea of a new beginning. As each season passes and a new one comes upon us, I think it's the perfect time to pause, reevaluate and regroup. There's only a quarter of 2013 left but that's plenty of time to reach any goals you may have set back in January. I know there are things I keep putting off and I think this new season is just what I need to re-light the flame.

I hope you're enjoying the last of this beautiful weekend. Happy fall, y'all! ;)

P.S. I looked all over for the person behind this photograph and fell into the deep dark hole that is Tumblr. If anyone knows whose talented work I used for this quote, please let me know!

  1. Thanks for sharing this! I am definitely a "summer soul" as well, but I love that the Fall brings new beginnings that offer hope and a fresh perspective - thanks for reminding me of that! I wish you a very Happy Fall and a successful 4th quarter!

  3. I love this post! I have to confess though, I am one of those people that hurries every season! In a lot of ways I love celebrating a new phase before it's time, i love the excitement of looking ahead. Your words are also a great reminder to put it all into perspective in savoring each moment.
I also indulge in a little back to school shopping! My husband being a teacher justifies it for me, but I obviously don't need much convincing that I should partake! haha! Hope your weekend was fabulous friend!
