Weekly Wrap Up | Sterling Wines Ultimate Host

September 29, 2011
Happy Friday! Today I just wanted to share that I (along with my aunt - The Southern Bees)entered Sterling Wine's, Ultimate Host Challenge. They have partnered with one of my favorites, Pizzazzerie to find the Ultimate Host! Hopefully, next week I'll share more photos of the dinner party we put together on a dime! It was super fun and perfect for a fall gathering! They announce a winner on October 3rd so wish us luck! :)

Things have been pretty quiet around the blog this week - sometimes life just gets in the way! ;) But just in case you  missed one of the whopping 3 posts shared you can find them here: My Instagram Summer, 26 Before 26, and In the Studio | Blog Design.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Monday! :)

UPDATE: Anyone notice that when I posted this Weekly Wrap Up post that it was actually THURSDAY? Yeah, I didn't notice until THURSDAY was almost over. I had practically gone the whole (from Wednesday at 11:30 when I got the post ready, until about 4 o'clock on THURSDAY) day not know what day it actually was! So, TODAY - FRIDAY, I say Happy Friday and I hope you have a fantastic weekend! :)

In the Studio | Eyes Wide Open Blog

September 28, 2011
Hey Everybody! I know it's a little late in the day but I just wanted to pop in and say, "hi" and share a recent blog design I completed! Above is the just the header but you can check out the whole thing right here. This blog is authored by a friend of mine, Sheree. So far she has used this blog to update grandparents with pictures of her beautiful family but now things will be a changing up a bit! She's got lots of exciting things planned and they are all mission focused, which I love! I'm so excited to follow along with their journey!

26 Before 26

September 26, 2011
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Mine was lovely and it was awfully wonderfully productive so I am very happy! Anyway - moving on! Back in March, I decided I was going to complete 25 tasks before my 25th birthday. Let's just say the outcome was less than satisfactory considering I never even came up with a full list of 25 tasks. I came up with 10 and although I never thought of the list after writing it I actually did complete a few of them! Such as:  03 - Buy a lottery ticket.  06 - Make Jenny a new blog design. 07 - Take care of my dot com issues for Paisley Card Co.  08 - Design & print business cards for Paisley Card Company. 10 - Start process to get deposit back from landlord. Five for five aint bad my friends! Well, today is my half birthday. I have been quarter of a century for 6 months now and only have 6 months until my golden birthday! (I'll be 26 on March 26th!) I'm super excited for this birthday because well I love life and I love that I'm around for another year of it. I also love even numbers and I am always an odd age on an odd year and an even age on an even year. I'll be 26 in 2012 so I know it's going to be a great year! I realize this may sound a bit superstitious but I promise - not that this year has been bad, but next year will be awesome!
Ok! So back to the purpose of this post! I'm a list person. I make lists daily. Sometimes I actually complete things off my list and sometimes I don't do anything with it after creating it. I always have so many things I need to do and things I want to create and a list is the best way for me to keep it all straight! So, again I'm going to take a stab at creating a list of tasks (some may be left over from those not completed from the last birthday list) before my birthday, only this time I'm giving myself 6 months instead of only 1! Hopefully I can complete every task but we shall see!

Now for the list:

01. Send a card just because.
02. Start doing a Bible study! Anyone have a suggestion of a good one?
03. Lose 15 pounds.
04. Upload my 2011 Christmas card designs to Etsy.
05. Do a 7 day detox.
06. Go to the dentist.
07. Go to a show at the Grand Ole Opry.
08. Make more fabric flower necklaces.
10. Finish my DIY window project.
11. Go to the beach.
12. Finish the re-branding for Paisley Card Co.
13. Re-do the wording for Button Baby's Etsy listings.
14. Finish my photo wall in my living room.
15. Get my hair highlighted.
16. Add more designs to Etsy.
17. Give more handmade Christmas gifts than store bought.
18. Make button art.
19. Make crock pot apples.
20. Make my own laundry detergent.
21. Make 5 recipes from myyum yums board.
22. Go see Wicked.
23. Raise money to support a friend's adoption process!
24. Settle on a church here in TN and continue to go regularly.
25. Spend more time with my little sister Katie.
26. Be happy!

My Instagram Summer

September 23, 2011
I can't believe today is the first day of fall. In high school and college I couldn't wait for this day. I loved love everything about this season (football, changing leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, bonfires, etc.) but the older I get the more sad I am to see summer go. But ready or not, here comes fall! Take a look back at my summer, via Instagram, and if you like, check it out here grid style.

01 | Bella on our drive to our new home in Nashville.
02 | Fully taking advantage of the swimming pool in my backyard.
03 | Private suite at the CMA Music Festival.
04 | My friends Lindsay & Stacie came to visit!
05 | Fourth of July downtown Nashville. Best fireworks ever!
06 | Home for a cousins wedding and friend/family time.
07 | She bangs, she bangs. I cut my own bangs. They're still growing on me!
08 | Lots of girl time with baby sister Katie & Aunt Christie!
09 | Wilson County Fair with baby sister!
10 |  Sister Corky came to visit. Pedicures & girl time.
11 | Ohio to surprise Mama for her birthday!
12 | Design*Sponge at Home favorite summer read. Well that & The Help!
13 | Friday night football game watching my sister (in color guard).

It's been a great summer filled with big changes (like moving 2 states away!) and although I miss my family and friends - I am really happy. So long, sweet summer - & hello fall. Be good to me! :)

Oh yeah - have a happy weekend, loves! See you on Monday! :)

Infontuation | Type War

September 20, 2011
Think you know your fonts? Well, put your knowledge to the test with Type War where you’re asked to identify a series of letters from an ever expanding repertoire of fonts. It seemed super easy to me at first since I'm a Fontaholic but a few of the L's and W's were tricky! If you try it out let me know how you do! :)

In the Studio | Baby Shower Invitations

September 14, 2011
These are the baby shower invitations I designed for my client Catie! She was having two showers thrown for her so it was really fun to design two different invitations. The one on the right mimics the bedding she chose for her baby girl's nursery as well as the decor for the party. Both designs are a lot of fun and full of summery cheerfulness! Love them! (If I do say so myself! :)

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

Infontuation | Word Mark

September 13, 2011
Back in JANUARY I posted my first (and only) Type Tuesday post (now being called Fontastic Tuesday). I honestly thought I would have gotten on the ball with this series and also thought that I had already shared what I am sharing today. After searching my archives I realized I should have been searching my drafts. (I have many a post waiting to be published! Anyway - if you haven't discovered Word Mark you are missing out! If you're like me you sometimes find yourself stumped while trying to find the perfect font. Typography can provide the overall tone and inspiration for an entire design so it shouldn't be taken lightly. More often than not, I found myself copying and pasting certain words and applying every typeface I own until finally coming across the right one. With Word Mark you can preview a word or sentence in all of the fonts installed on your computer to be sure you choose just the right font! Awesome! :)
See how easy that was? :)

Happy Birthday Mama!

September 12, 2011
This birthday post is a few days late but I wanted to be sure to share anyway! August 25th was my fabulous mother's birthday and it was so much fun! With me living in Tennessee now and my sister living in Texas, we wanted to do something special so we both took off work, my sister booked her flight from San Antonio to Nashville and we got to scheming! I had such a fun time visiting with my sister (complete with pedicures and a road trip to Ohio!). It had been so long since we were able to spend time together. My parents were set to go to my grandparent's house on my mom's birthday for a special dinner. We decided to be there waiting for her! Needless to say she was very surprised and happy to see us.

I hope you loved your birthday surprise Mama and I'm glad we got to celebrate with you! Miss you!

Life Goes On...

Happy Monday everyone! Just wanted to stop in and say good morning and share this photo from yesterday's home opener in Jacksonville. My friend Brock plays for the Jaguars and yesterday (9/11) was given the honor of leading his team out onto the field carrying our Nation's flag! I couldn't be more proud of him. He's such a hard worker, supportive hubby to my best friend, and a wonderful father to my niece Avery - and this is one awesome photo!

Yesterday was a day to reflect on what happened 10 years ago and with this morning's sun brings a new day! I have an optimistic outlook on this week and I'm ready to be productive and continue to work towards making my dreams come true! :)

Remembering 9/11

September 11, 2011
Footage from 9/11 will chill you to your core. Ten years later, it's still unbelievable that something so terrible was done to our Nation but I am so proud of how our country responded. I am also so proud and BLESSED to be born in the United States of America and thankful for the hundreds of thousands of men and women who sacrifice their lives for us every day.  Lucky does not even begin to describe it.

Hug your loved ones, y'all!

Hello September!

September 1, 2011
Someone please tell me where this year has gone? It's September. SEPTEMBER! Each day moves by faster and faster and I just wish I could make life slow down. I love the above photo. This time of year was always one of my favorites growing up. It was so exciting to head back to school after summer break and see friends and teachers again. I still enjoy this time of year but the older I get the more I dread the end of summertime. Not sure why since I don't have summer break anymore but there is still a carefree and laid back feeling in the summer that I'm always sad to say goodbye to!

I've got something exciting happening this weekend that I can't talk about just yet but hope I am able to soon! I'm just asking for lots of prayers and well wishes! I'll be back a little later with another post but I just wanted to stop in and say hello to September! Enjoy your Thursday! :)
